Because the scratches are a half-hearted and quick attempt to repair over-polished dies, it takes a magnifying glass to detect the fine scratch lines. Because the scribbles were put on the working dies by the mint workman, they are--in fact--collectible die varieties.

This book is filled with humor--from sharp to dumb--but an absolute pleasure to have on the book case.
