This coin is a Top 100* Morgan VAM

8 III2 7 ∙ C3a (8/7 Ears) (179) I-4 R-6

Obverse III2 7 – Second 8 has two short ears on top. A small piece of metal is on the right side of the upper loop opening. The 9 does not show in the 0.
Reverse C3a – Normal die. Die Marker - Two fairly strong die scratches eagle's left wing.

The VAM-8 "Ears" variety has subtle remnants of 7 appearing at the top of the second 8 in the date. The evidence of the underlying 7 appear as two small bumps looking like animal ears peeking out of the top of the 8. This coin is exceedingly rare, partially because it is a tough VAM but also because it is so hard to attribute with the small overdate features.
